Baby Dedication

Baby dedications are a public statement by the parents that they will train their children in the Christian faith and seek to instill that faith in them through prayer, teaching, and most of all…a personal example of a surrendered life to Christ.

With that in mind, we see two primary purposes for dedication:

1. For parents, joined by their church community, to celebrate the birth or adoption of a child, joyfully thanking God for this new addition to the family and to the church community.

2. For parents to commit themselves publicly to raise their child in the nurture and love of the Lord, and for the church to pray for them in their awesome responsibility as parents.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commands that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up...” Deut. 6:5-7
